Dude wants to know why The Fall Guy, despite being (as my fellow host said on the Gab) reportedly a good movie, failed at the box office.
First off, they sold it as a “Girl Boss lectures an incompetent man” movie, apparently under the impression people wanted to see another one of those vomit-inducing cringe-fests, so the movie was set up to fail by its own publicity.
In a larger sense, modern Hollywood is spending hundreds of millions making mid (at best) movies, hectoring the audience with politics, and voting for this disastrous economy.
All of these are self-inflicted wounds, on top of any other problems caused by streaming, COVID policies (which they supported), and the strikes. This is them reaping what they’ve sowed.
Hollywood is killing its own business. And well-reviewed movies like The Fall Guy are suffering for it.
